God has two dwellings; one in heaven,
and the other in a meek and thankful heart.

Who seeks for heaven alone to save his soul,
May keep the path, but will not reach the goal;
While he who walks in love may wander far,
Yet God will bring him where the blessed are.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us most.
We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous,
talented, and famous?' Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that
people won't feel insecure around you.
We were born to make manifest
the glory of God that is within us.
It's not just in some of us; it's in all of us.
And when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously
give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.

~~ Marianne Williamson

Two Monks

Two Monks on a pilgrimage came to the ford of a river. There they saw a girl dressed in all her finery, obviously not knowing what to do since the river was high and she did not want to spoil her clothes. Without more ado, one of the monks took her on his back, carried her across, and put her down on the dry ground on the other side.

Then the monks continued on their way. But the other monk after an hour started complaining.

“Surely it is not right to touch a women; it is against the commandments to have close contact with women. How could you go against the rules of monks?”

The Monk who had carried the girl, walked along silently, but finally he remarked, “I set her down by the river an hour ago, why are you still carrying her?”
